Who are the people in your neighborhood

So ever wonder who your neighbors really are? I do. We have nick-names for some of our neighbors. Scary guy who never wears a shirt lives a few doors down and on the opposite side of the street. In the ten years we have lived here, I've seen him outside with a shirt on twice. And he is not even great to look at. I mean, if you're never gonna wear a shirt, at least look good doing it. Then we have the overloaded lawn ornament family next door, who make it nearly impossible for skyler to sleep at Christmas time. Then we have the yearly renters, who live across and one over, the people only stay around for a year or so, and then off they go...lease up! But my favorite by far is dead ladies house, she wasn't really dead, we just noticed one day a few years ago that she hadn't come out of her house for a long time, car in the drive, no movement. So, we began to wonder if she was dead. Then, suddenly, there she was. Alive and well, but she never did tell us what she was doing in there. BUT NOW, she has moved and her house is a rental. AND I AM PRETTY SURE IT IS A SAFE HOUSE. No, i am not kidding. She sold it about 3 years ago, and ever since, people move in for a few weeks, or a month or so, and then gone, vanished into thin air. There one morning, gone by the afternoon, and never being out much the time they lived there. So, yup, it's a safe house. I mean, what better place to put one? No one else but an avid reader like me is gonna suspect a safe house in this crappy neighborhood.
(Well, okay, not crappy, persay, but it sure makes the sentence funnier) Now, this is not to say we don't have nice neighbors, either. They are very nice for the most part, except the ones in the safe house...they don't talk.

We have this goober of a neighbor who seems to know every juicy detail about every single person on our street. You know that weirdo, nosy guy in the movies who knows things no one should know? Well, he lives across the street and down from me.

to the north - george and camille

to the south - another family - not quite sure about the names. their daughter's name is daisy, and she seems to refer to her father as "t"

that's all i know.

We have a single lady who lives north of us, she's real nice and a PETA member. I heard a gunshot from her house on Monday nite so Teri called to check on her. Out of breath she answered the phone and said yes that was her who fired the shot. Her dogs were ripping apart a cat and she took her pistol out and fired it into the ground to break them up.
This is typical Rogersville -- are you ready??

Whoops. Deleted my comment. I'm laughing out loud. We have had neighbors that we thought were in the witness protection program. Strange jobs. Disconnected past. In the program or on the lam. Then we had neighbors that were way too involved in the Neighborhood Assoc. and would get mad at everyone else who didn't care about the Assoc. One guy kind of glowed a greenish/blueish color. We think b/c he worked inside all day--so Flourescent Guy. But overall, too many nice neighbors to list. I'm sure we are also a source of intrigue and entertainment for our neighbors. We are The Griswalds--too many lights at Christmas.

We have an older couple across the street - Al and Jerry(i?) - I'm not sure which is which! Al could be short for Allison, Alice, or Albert! Next to them, is the junky car family - if there is one person per car living in that house, I don't know where they're sleeping. And, they also have a parrot who lives on the front porch. For awhile, prior to our knowledge of the bird, I was really uncomfortable from the whistling that seemed to come from nowhere - like I had an invisible stalker.

Seeing as I live in the Director's apartment of a dorm building, I have 200 neighbors! Thankfully I only have one room that is close, and they are above me. They are 2 women from Mongolia, and they LOVE Carrie Underwood's cd on repeat. Their room is decorated with about 23 Genghis Khan wall hangings.
